Frequently Asked Questions Regarding the AKO Mashgiach Courses

I'm not currently working as a Mashgiach but would like to learn about being a Mashgiach. Which course should I take?

You can take the General Edition and you will learn everything you need to know about being a Mashgiach. (You'll still need hands-on produce checking training though.)
Upon completion, you will receive a completion certificate, but it will not officially certify you as a mashgiach. If you would like to receive a Mashgiach Photo ID card, you will need to take the course through an AKO-member organization.

I would like to take the course through my agency and receive a Mashgiach Photo ID, but my agency isn't listed here. What should I do?

Please have your administrator contact us at info@kosherinstitute.com and we will be happy to set up their individualized course free of charge!

Are there fundamental differences between the General Edition and the individual editions associated with various agencies?

The fundamentals of the course are mostly identical. The Hashgachah editions incorporate the specific agency's policies and procedures into the course and typically include additional information provided by the individual Hashgachaha.

I think I read somewhere about using coupon codes for free access. Who do I get a coupon code from?

Some Hashgachos choose to provide coupon codes to their Mashgichim for free course access. Please inquire with your Hashgachah office if they participate in this program. If they do, they will provide you with a coupon and instructions.
Please note: Coupons are never obtained through Kosher Institute of America.

I got a coupon code from my Hashgachah but an error message appears when I enter the code.

Please try the following:
1. Check that you are signing up for the correct agency course and not for the General Edition.
2. Ensure you are entering the coupon code on the payment page and not on the original signup page.

Does the Mashgiach Photo ID expire?

Yes, three years following the completion of the course.

Will I learn how to check vegetables?

While the course does include a comprehensive section on checking produce, there is no substitute for hands-on training. This training will be provided by your individual Hashgachah.

I began the course but now I'm having trouble logging in. What should I do?

What People Are Saying...

I have found Rabbi Dubin to be an exemplary teacher with a unique ability to take a very complex subject, such as kashrut in this case, and present it in a clear, concise and completely relevant way.

As a working Mashgiach, I found the course to be comprehensive and essential in its content and of course delivered with great deal of chesed and patience. The course and subsequent certification will provide a great foundation for all mashgichim and anyone looking to increase their knowledge on kashrut and related subjects.

I have confidence that Kosher Institute through its training and certification will have great success in strengthening the kosher service we are able to provide our communities and anyone who learns the course material will be able to provide a higher quality, more efficient and professional job in their kosher supervision.

We will undoubtedly all benefit from having certified mashgichim.

The topics are very interesting and really relevant. In addition, the classes are given in a very clear manner and contain useful information.

I have enjoyed taking the course, I really recommend it.

Pablo Lutenberg

"I am forever grateful for the thorough, direct, and organized lesson plan conducted by Rabbi Dubin. Each course is well planned with visual representations on guidance of how to conduct the cooking process before, during, and after. As the course continues to build on previously learned concepts the pace continues to be all the more engaging with life applicable scenarios! Given the reality of the kitchen heat, it was amazing to be a part of this kashrut course and to understand the applications of lechitchila and bedi’eved thoroughly.”
